Revised Retiree Rules

Please be sure to read these rules as they are applicable to any retirees retiring after October 1, 2002. Under the new rules the following is applicable:

Eligibility for coverage in the Health and Welfare plan has changed. The rules have been elaborated and explained in detail on page 2 of the document.

Delayed Enrollment Eligibility: This is a new addition to the plan rules, which allow for a retiree to first take a spouse’s coverage if it is available and then enter the retiree plan after the coverage is no longer available.

HMO Option: Currently, the Board of Trustees have opted to subsidize the HMO option with no premiums. The Board emphasizes that this may not be a forever subsidy and they exercise the right to change this if the Plan cannot financially support the subsidy in the future.

Other Changes: Some of the other languages in the plan may be changed or modified, it is important that you read the entire document in its entirety.

The document is being sent to every member in the plan and should now be a part of your summary plan description.

Should you have any questions or need additional information regarding the changes outlined above please call the Fund Administrative Office at
